I dont know how many people know about this place but I didn't and just found it by Googling "food near me" when in the city recently. What a great find. The ribs were cooked perfectly. The baked beens were a recipe I never tasted before and craved the next day. Mac and cheese was classic. The portions were monsterous. I got the large ribs and tips with fries to-go. I loved how the sauce covered everything. Sauce was really good too. Service was great, everyone was happy and friendly. I would like to try eating in some day. I did have to wait a quite a little longer after I got a message tha my food was ready but that was really no big deal. I can't wait till I'm back in Chicago next year to bring my buddies.

Wilma's Famous BBQ and Tavern has been on my bucket list of soul food restaurants to visit. Pros: - The food is unbelievable! I was completely surprised to get this type of soul food from a place located downtown. I ordered a little bit of everything: rib tips, chicken wings, mac-n-cheese, and collard greens. All of it was great! - The food was ready right as we arrived to pick up the food. It was nice and hot by the time we made it home. - The inside of the restaurant is massive! It could easily accommodate multiple large groups at once. Cons: - The prices of the items were a little ridiculous for the size of the items. When you order a side of some things the items are tiny.

I had the opportunity to order a pan of rib tips on short notice from Wilma's for a holiday gathering. The staff were very courteous and helpful and when I arrived the next day, my order was ready for me hot and cooked to perfection. Everyone at the gathering enjoyed the tips and wanted to know where they came from. Fallon followed through perfectly and I would definitely order from them again. Based on this experience and one prior dine in experience, I would HIGHLY recommend this business for parties, and a night out for great food.

My Other Mother said she wanted to come here for her birthday after seeing it on TikTok. So We Said let's Go! I know they have Valet Parking but I choose to do Spot Hero Parking. When Arriving there are several picture opportunities and of course we took advantage of it. The Place wasn't too packed but it was just the right amount of people for an early evening meal. Our server was very nice and friendly and accepted all the changes that we made. I went with the Turkey Tips, Mac & Cheese and Fries. Mama went with the Fried Platter and Sis went with the BBQ Platter. I really enjoyed everything I got. I even tried some of the Fried Platter and it was pretty tasty. The biggest grip that I have is that it was kind of overpriced for BBQ. I understand that we are downtown but dang. Overall the food was good but kind of pricey.

This place was a whole vibe! I went on a Sunday afternoon to catch the Bears game because it kept appearing on my TikTok feed and my niece recommended it. The recommendation didn't disappoint. I'm from the West side of Chicago and we have plenty of great BBQ restaurants so I honestly thought this would be mid at best. Pleasantly surprised! The food was amazing and the drinks were great! I love fried catfish and it was cooked/fried to perfection. I also had two hot links that had the right amount of kick to it I sat at the bar and had a great view of the game. There were plenty of Bears fans and the DJ played the right mixture of R&B and Hip Hop. Everyone was friendly! The Bears won...made the food and experience even better

Black Foodie Tour stop and taste. Summer may be barbecue season, but I can eat it all year round. Love that you can smell the smokiness of meats while on the short escalator up to the restaurant. I enjoyed meeting and speaking with the owner. Such a sweet spirit. Portion sizes are really nice. During the tasting, they set out such a nice spread of foods. Rib tips; tender, juicy and sauced. Fried party wings; crispy and flavored to the bone. Mac and cheese; creamy, baked and seasoned well. Candied yams; tender, flavorful and not too sweet with added spices. I have already returned to get food for hubby. Will be going again soon. They even have a little robot server. Nice touch.

Sweet and delicious bbq. I have tried the rib tips, turkey tips, grilled half chicken, and turkey link. Literally everything was awesome. FYI, this is not the vinegar based bbq sauce, it's sweet and tasty. I also tried the strawberry lemon drop and the Wilma Punch. Both were good if you like sweet drinks. I had a lemon and lime squeezed in for some zing.
